| “So is this a hotel -- where there’s stuff to do?” Our middle son rubbed his wet head with a towel. He and the others dried off after swimming, tossing a ball and splashing under my watchful eye and the lifeguard’s in one of the resort’s three pools. Now they were deciding between board games in the lobby or ping pong in the well-equipped game room. They picked both. And enjoyed those games and more fun during our weekend at Deer Creek Resort and Conference Center. Located just south of Columbus and less than a two-hour drive from Cincinnati, Deer Creek boasts “scenic woodlands, a peaceful lake and activities in every season.” Entering our recently renovated suite, with room for all seven of us, we peeked at a beautiful view of the lake through the wall of windows. But as we went for a closer look, we saw bugs. Mosquitoes covered the windows and sheers. Fortunately, a call to the front office quickly solved the problem, sending a maintenance worker to our room with a can of bug spray. Bug free, the next morning, we ate breakfast in our room and studied the variety of activities available at the resort, including the “Voices of Discovery Program,” especially for families. |
